Artist statement for Evoking
Cafes and bars are where some of the greatest influential ideas have been born in.
Looking out at the distant horizon at the vast dangerous world we have created for ourselves is where the inspiration of this exhibition came from. We, as a society, have become the predators of the ideologies that once we have held high. I believe it is in the evoking our emotions and imagination that the changes that we desire can and shall come from.
For it is the evoking thoughts in oneself that perhaps we can find a sense of clarity once again. For even the most basic emotions “love” and “hate” are clouded by our sense of pride and commitment not just to ourselves but also the sense of obligation to the society we have been brought up in. It is in today’s civilization that greed has closed our eyes to our basic natural behavior (protecting what we survive on nature). The dream is still alive in creating a society that can somehow coexist with our wants and parts of nature.
(For this is the journey worth will taking)
For it is not in our comfort that the changes we desire are worth taking but in the way we question ourselves and the way we feel can we actually make the changes we wish for.
